Privacy Policy
What data HostScope collects, what it does not collect, how affiliate tracking works, and how to exercise your rights.
Last updated
HostScope is a static website. It has no login, no user accounts and no forms that submit data to our servers. The amount of personal information we hold is close to nothing, and this page explains precisely what that means.
What we collect
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for handling corrections and reader questions, and we do not add anyone to a mailing list.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider and any analytics service we use may record standard technical information: IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited and timestamps. This is aggregate data used to understand which articles are useful. It is not linked to your identity.
Information stored in your browser
We use browser storage for exactly one thing: remembering whether you dismissed the floating offer bar, so it does not reappear during the same visit. This is stored in sessionStorage, is not transmitted to us, and is cleared when you close the tab.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for or store payment details. Nothing is sold on this site.
- We do not run user accounts, comments or forums.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not build advertising profiles.
- We do not use cross-site tracking pixels to follow you around the web.
How affiliate tracking works
When you click a Hostinger link on this site, the link includes our affiliate identifier and a placement tag. Hostinger and its affiliate network use that to attribute the visit and, if you buy, to pay us a commission. If you then purchase, Hostinger may set cookies on its own domain as part of its checkout and affiliate attribution process.
Once you leave this site, Hostinger's privacy policy governs what happens to your data. We do not receive your name, email address or order details — the affiliate network reports aggregate numbers such as clicks and conversions, not personal information.
If you prefer not to be tracked, use your browser's private mode, a tracker blocker, or simply visit hostinger.com directly. You will pay the same price.
Cookies
HostScope itself does not set advertising or profiling cookies. Any cookies you encounter on this site would come from third-party services embedded in a page, such as an analytics script or a font provider. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may see your IP address and user agent as part of serving the font files.
Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Website host / CDN | Serving the pages | IP address, request metadata, standard server logs |
| Google Fonts | Loading the Inter typeface | IP address, user agent |
| Hostinger affiliate network | Attributing referrals | Click events, referral identifier, aggregate conversions |
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or similar legislation to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data. Because we hold almost no personal data, in practice this usually means email correspondence. To make a request, contact hello@hostscope.io and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is aimed at people making business and personal website decisions. It is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change and the substance of the change will be described here.
