Who we are, why we publish renewal prices when most hosting sites do not, and how the site is funded.

HostScope is an independent research site about Hostinger. We publish the numbers that make hosting decisions easy and that most comparison sites leave out — the renewal price, the resource ceilings, the backup frequency, and the plans you should not buy.
Why this site exists
Hosting reviews have a credibility problem. Search for any host and you will find dozens of pages that quote the introductory price, list the same six marketing bullets, and declare the host "the best" without saying who it is best for. Almost none of them tell you what the plan renews at, which is the number that determines what you actually spend.
We started HostScope because we kept having the same conversation with friends and clients: the plan was fine, the price was not what they expected in year two. Hostinger is a genuinely good host for a lot of people — we recommend it — but it is only good value if you understand the term structure and pick the tier that matches your workload.
How the site is funded
HostScope earns money through the Hostinger affiliate programme. When someone buys hosting through one of our links, Hostinger pays us a commission. That commission is paid by Hostinger, not by you, and it does not change the price you pay.
We think affiliate funding is fine, as long as three rules hold, and we hold to all three:
- Disclosure is visible, not buried. Every monetised page carries a disclosure at the top. The full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
- Commission never changes a recommendation. Hostinger's affiliate payouts do not vary enough between tiers to make upselling worthwhile. We recommend Premium for people who should buy Premium and we tell people not to buy Hostinger at all when a competitor fits better — our comparison pages award the win to competitors on plenty of rows.
- We publish the bad numbers. The renewal increase on every plan, the weekly-only backups on Premium, the absence of Node.js support on the cheapest tier, the 10-emails-per-minute cap on server-based sending. If we hid these, nobody would trust the good numbers.

Three people. Between us we have migrated several hundred sites between hosts, run client infrastructure on KVM boxes, and built and broken enough WooCommerce stores to know where the resource ceilings actually are.

HostScope is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Hostinger International Ltd. We are an independent publication. Hostinger does not review our articles before publication, does not have input into our scores, and cannot ask us to remove criticism. Our contact at Hostinger is the same affiliate programme contact available to anyone.
We also do not run paid placements, sponsored posts or "featured partner" slots. If a page mentions another host, it is because the comparison is useful, not because that host paid.
Corrections
Hosting prices and specs change constantly. Every page that quotes a price records the date it was checked — currently 2026-09-17. If you spot something that is out of date or wrong, email hello@hostscope.io and we will fix it and note the correction. Getting a number wrong is worse for us than admitting it.
